I’ve tried several times to write a eulogy for Blue Blue who
passed away on Monday, January 13, 2015 and this is what I
have to tell you.
She was round.
Round head, round belly, adorable fat round legs.
Her nose was shape of a
heart.
Her fur was white and blue gray and soft and thick as a rabbits pelt.
She was A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E.
She was a force of nature.
She knew what she wanted and what she did not.
I was most fortunate that she thought I was pretty nifty and by the end of the six
years we spent together she had moved that up to full blown love. It was mutual.
She took no guff and suffered no fools. After we moved up to Los Molinos she was
living not only with Simon but with Carol’s three cats, Lulu, Kit and Benny.
She never blinked. And at the age
of 16 in declining health she would storm any of the cats who dared to come
into HER room but felt perfectly entitled to sleep in their room all day if she
chose.
She did not like dirt.
Or grass. When we escorted
her outside for a walk she stayed on the front porch, then strolled up the
sidewalk to the back patio, cement under her feet all the way. Carol witnessed the first time she
noticed the hummingbirds at the feeder and told me that her head bobbled up and
down in triple time as she spun around trying to keep track of them. How cute is that!
She would stare the five semi-tame outside cats down if they
approached her on her walk. They
never bothered her!
She headed out to the living room most days to find Carol’s
Dad. He kept treats for her by his
chair and oh how I am going to miss hearing him say, “well hello Blue Blue, did
you come out for your treat?” Two
cuties.
She filled my heart.
She made me smile a hundred times a day.
I will miss her like the dickens.
They say that the harder you love the harder you fall. All I know is that
My heart hurts.
My heart is filled with love.
XO
Suki
Bye.
