Trouble Right Here in River City

A friend of mine sent this video to me.   In the aftermath of yesterday's elections, I contemplate the P in politics today,  This morning I still want universal health care.  I want the right to marry a man or a woman,  and I want to be a fully recognized person.  I want sexual orientation, the color of our skin, our spiritual beliefs - to be heralded as a sign of something to come; a harbinger of the possibility that these differences do not have to separate us, but rather offer us the way into our humanity, just as the crocus is the herald of spring.

Today I'm thinking that we should form a marching band, and play all over the world.  Just play, and sing and hope that the P in politics leads us to a place of deeper honor.  A place where we can disagree to the core, but from a place of honor.  I don't want to call people names.  I don't want enemies.  I don't want to diminish.  I don't want to react.  I want to embrace. This morning I want to move forward in ways that allow the world to be kinder, more open, more embracing.  I want that to be at the forefront of any political action I undertake.

So, open up the video.  It makes me laugh to imagine thousands of people of all demographics just marching and singing as a political act.  Just that very simple, somewhat happy, powerful act.  So, click on the video link and join me won't you.  I'm going to take a little musical spin around my living room.
